Two videos of the Talk  given in Florence at Le Murate Art District (MAD) on 15 March 2023

MAD is a fascinating arts complex in the heart of Florence: a former Benedictine convent for women dating from the 14th century, later a prison and now converted to a multi-purpose art centre run by the Commune of Florence. An initial design proposal by architect Renzo Piano has kept the original buildings and spaces whilst adapting them for exhibitions, performances, talks, book presentations, concerts, and a literary cafe. It was a great privilege to be there and to talk to an audience of Florentines and visitors to the city. I was introduced by MAD director Valentina Gensini and in conversation with art historian Giovanna Giusti, formerly at the Uffizi where she added many women artists to the famous collection of self portraits and curated a groundbreaking exhibition of women’s self portraits at the Uffizi back in 2010-2011.
So it was an honour to have been invited to present my work at MAD and to be able to discuss it with such a knowledgeable and experienced interlocutor.

There is a short three minute extract with an introduction by Valentina and brief words from Giovanna and myself.

You can also see the complete talk on You Tube where you can also view the presentation of my artworks works dating from the 1990s to the present

The Talks are in Italian but I am hoping to make a video of the images that accompanied the talk, adding an English text.
